Richard Mayr, Jahrgang 1952,  folgt mit seiner Fotografie einer langjährigen Familientradition, die über Generationen reicht.  

1974 begann er mit der Reisefotografie und ist bis heute in den verschiedensten Ländern unterwegs. Landschaften und die Tierwelt sind nach wie vor seine Lieblingsmotive.

Als Setfotograf für RAN-Film unter Alfred Ninaus hat er bei zahlreichen Filmproduktionen mitgewirkt und im Zuge dieser Arbeit drei Bildbände, „Das steirische Wechselland“, „Mythos Ausseerland“, „Wilde Wasser, Steile Gipfel“ verfasst. Diese  fruchtvolle Zusammenarbeit wird auch in Zukunft weiter gepflegt werden.

Da Fotografie ja „Malen mit Licht“ bedeutet, ist es naheliegend an die Malerei zu denken. Mayr orientiert sich an einem Ausspruch des romantischen Landschaftsmalers Caspar David Friedrich: „Nicht zu malen, was man vor sich sieht, wenn man nichts in sich sieht.“

With his photography, Richard Mayr, born in 1952, follows a long-standing family tradition that spans generations.

He started travel photography in 1974 and is still traveling in various countries. Landscapes and wildlife are his favorite motifs.

As a set photographer for RAN film under Alfred Ninaus, he has been involved in numerous film productions and in the course of this work has written three illustrated volumes, "the Styrian Wechselland", "Myth of Ausseerland", "Wild Water, Steep Summit". This fruitful collaboration will be continued in the future.

Since photography means "painting with light", it is obvious to think of painting. Mayr follows a saying by the romantic landscape painter Caspar David Friedrich: "Not to paint what you see in front of you, when you see nothing inside yourself."
